Maybe I should go anonymous on this, but the statute of limitations has probably expired. I bought a fake Rolex Oyster Perpetual in Bangkok at least 40 years ago. One day decades later I took it into a watch repair place in Fairfax, Virginia for cleaning, a shop run by an older Korean man who looked like he had a lot of experience (sorry if I’m stereotyping here). He opened it up, studied it with his loup for a while, and then asked with a puzzled look, “This real Rolex?” “No, it’s a fake rolex I bought in Bangkok.” “Hmmm,” he said, “very good quality watch.” I would never try to pass it off as a real Rolex for selling, of course. I need it to wear at high school reunions to make old friends think I have joined the elite.
